Providers: Profile Pages

Your Profile Page

On your profile page, all of the activities you create will automatically appear along with your photo, background, bio and a headline to quickly catch families' attention. Here's how you can update it to look exactly how you want it:

Photo

Whether it's a professional headshot, your favorite picture of yourself or one you took right now, adding a photo of yourself is a great way to build trust with families and let them get to know who will be teaching their children.

If you'll be taking a new photo for your Instructor Page, here are a couple of tips to make sure your photo shows you at your best:

1. Work Your Angles

Set up a tripod or ask a friend to take your photo! With cameras on every phone & computer, you can easily take a photo by yourself but to get the best angles, you'll want help from a handy tripod or someone in your household. We recommend a head-on photo looking directly into the camera so parents can see the friendly face their students will get to see in your classroom!

2. Focus On the Subject (a.k.a You)

Choose a simple backdrop to make sure parents focus on you and not your background. Rather than showing your fantastic classroom in your picture, your photo should showcase who you are; you can get your best shot by looking directly into the camera and picking a solid color wall as your backdrop.

3. Let the Sun Shine

Don't get lost in the shadows, make sure to choose the best lighting to convey your warm & lovely personality.

How do you find the best lighting? Open the blinds to let the sunshine in then, position yourself facing the light to get a great glow that naturally illuminates your face.

Once you've taken that perfect photo, head to ‘General info’ and upload by clicking on the 'Upload Photo' button in the 'Choose Profile and Background Image' section:

Ready to upload? Now crop & perfect how your photo will look on your page.

Background

With over 100 options to choose from, you can showcase your teaching focus (i.e., dancing, world history, chess), highlight your personality (i.e, sparkles, nature, pets) or simply provide a nice background for your photo (i.e., rolling fields, patterns, flowers).

Can't find one that truly represents you? Let us know by emailing hello@homeroom.com and we can find something that matches your description.

Why can't you upload your own background image? Working with a design team, we've chosen images that will make your profile stand out as both personal & professional. This way, you know the image will be formatted correctly & make your photo the true star of your profile page.

Ready to search for your perfect background? In ‘General info’, click the 'Browse' button in the 'Profile and Background' section and a pop-up will appear with all of the background options available.

Headline

How many times have we all skimmed newspapers & websites for the headlines to get our news instead of reading the full article? For families on the go, looking to learn more about you before booking a class, give them a one sentence intro to your personality & experience.

Create an easy introduction by touching including these three elements:

1. Experience: Are you a certified teacher? Yoga instructor? Hold PhD in Zoology? Put your experience right up front.

Ex: Experienced ESL teacher of over 10 years

2. Personality: How would you describe yourself: Enthusiastic? Patient? Warm? Excited? Let parents know what type of classroom their child can expect when they take a class with you.

Ex: Experienced & Excited ESL teacher of over 10 years

3. Unique: What makes your classes different from the rest? What will their children gain in your classroom?

Ex: Experienced & Excited ESL teacher of over 10 years helping students find confidence through storytelling
